SCORPION
I cleaned out the kitchen this morning as I was getting ready to head home for the fall and found my first ever scorpion in the wild (I am going to consider a cupboard adjacent to nature as wild) and snapped a picture before he rushed under the toaster. About 20 minutes later I felt the most intense pain I have ever felt all focused on an area of my left foot smaller than the tip of a needle. Needless to say I gasped and ripped off my shoe and sock only to find a few broken black legs and a tiny puncture on the top of my foot. I did some research and iced my aching foot and concluded it was probably a Western black widow spider (Latrodectus hesperus). Within 30 minutes the neurotoxin had worn off and I was back to full strength ready to fight off the carp.
